BlueMissionMed National Events: HUBs4Innovation - Blue Solutions for Port to face Plastic Pollution
SmartCity Expo World Congress – Support and empower the Mediterranean sea basin innovation ecosystem.
BlueMissionMed, a European project focused on setting up, structuring and empowering a basin-scale innovation ecosystem to ensure progress towards Objective 2 of the Mission ‘Restore our Oceans and Waters by 2030 – Prevent and Eliminate Pollution of our Oceans, Seas and Waters’, participated yesterday in Smart City Expo World Congress in the Tomorrow Blue Economy sector. The Spanish Hub of the project organised a Session entitled “Blue Solution for Ports to Plastic Pollution”.
The general objective of the Spanish HUBs4Innovation session was to showcase innovative solutions primarily to businesses and investors at the local and different levels, while also ensuring the inclusion of other types of stakeholders, such as those in research and innovation (R&I) and administrations. The session aimed to connect solutions and interested parties with investors, facilitating matchmaking between innovative business ideas and relevant financial actors.
The session received excellent acceptance and participation at the Congress. The audience showed great interest in the presentations, reaching around fifty participants, though possibly more as the space was open.
The speakers presented their solutions to prevent plastic pollution in the Mediterranean followed by a questions and answers session with the audience. The space, fabric features and collaborative environment of the congress allows for networking, important contacts and the creation of connections to drive forward and try to amplify solutions aligned with the Mission’s Goal 2 – Restore our oceans and waters’, in particular Goal 2 – prevention and elimination of marine pollution. The project specifically supports the development and deployment of transformative, innovative solutions across technology, society, business, and governance.
