BlueMissionMed Italian Hub drives innovation with two upcoming national events
The BlueMissionMed Italian HUB will support innovation by co-hosting two national events, connecting key stakeholders to foster sustainable solutions for a pollution-free and restored ocean and waters. These events will bridge the gap between solution providers, businesses, and policymakers, accelerating progress toward the EU Mission Restore our Ocean and Waters’ goals.

“Restoring Lampedusa Island. A Pilot Action for the EU Mission Restore our Ocean And Waters”
The BlueMissionMed Italian HUB, in collaboration with the Sicily Region, the University of Palermo, and the Municipality of Lampedusa, is organizing a pivotal event focused on the transformation of Lampedusa Island towards the achievemente of the EU Mission “Restore Our Ocean and Waters” goals.
The event will feature high-level discussions on regional programs, potential use of EU structural funds, and ongoing projects to restore Lampedusa’s ecosystem. Key participants, including policymakers, regional authorities, and academic experts, will engage in roundtables and presentations showcasing mission-aligned initiatives. Highlighted projects include actions from European, national, and local initiatives, focusing on solutions and innovations in preventing and reducing pollution from ocean and waters and to protect biodiversity.
The event will conclude with an exploration of transferability, leveraging the experience of small Sicilian islands to inspire broader Mediterranean actions, followed by on-site visits to Lampedusa’s port and the marine protected area.

“Boosting technology, business models and societal engagement for the implementation of the EU Mission Restore our Ocean and Waters in the Mediterranean”
One year after the launch of the Italian HUB in Rimini, BlueMissionMed CSA returns to the Ecomondo Exhibition, reuniting Mediterranean stakeholders dedicated to the EU Mission “Restore Our Ocean and Waters by 2030”. This pivotal event, co-organized by key partners, aims to bridge the gap between innovative solutions, policymakers, and the business community. Demonstration activities for the innovative solutions, targeting different industrial sectors and covering the geographical variability of the Mediterranean, will be organized with the cooperation of the BlueMissionMed HUBs.
During the event, the winners of the Society4Med award will be presented to inspire similar activities across and beyond the Mediterranean basin. This award highlights the essential role of citizens and society in achieving the Mission’s goals, emphasizing the collective effort needed to restore our ocean and waters. By promoting public involvement, educational outreach, and community initiatives, BlueMissionMed seeks to inspire similar efforts across and beyond the Mediterranean basin, fostering collective action to ensure the health of our waters.
Additionally, a matchmaking session will be held from 17:00 to 18:00 at Pavilion B8, offering participants a unique opportunity to connect with business experts, investors, and the winners of the Society4Med award. This networking event is designed to foster collaboration and encourage participation in future initiatives, further amplifying the societal and environmental impact of the Mission.
