The BlueMissionMed Book for Kids Officially Launched at the EU Ocean Days!

The BlueMissionMed children’s book “Our Blue Treasure” was officially launched at the EU Ocean Days, marking an exciting step in fostering youth engagement with ocean and water literacy!

The book aims to raise awareness about the impact of daily actions on the health of our ocean and waters, and the reciprocal effect of water well-being on our lives. Targeted at children aged 6 to 10, the book simplifies complex environmental concepts into colorful, interactive content. It encourages active participation through games, challenges, and activities, where children can use stickers to complete information. By doing so, they gain a deeper understanding of how their actions can influence the ocean and waters. Even younger children can engage with the book, guided by older siblings, adults, or teachers!

The creation of the book took over a year, beginning with in-depth scientific research and progressing through concept development, narrative writing, and illustrations. Every aspect of the book was scientifically and pedagogically validated by the BlueMissionMed consortium, ensuring accuracy and educational value.

The book is already available in printed copies into multiple languages—English, Italian, Greek, Spanish, Dutch, Maltese, Turkish, French, and Arabic—and will be available soon also in an interactive online version. The digital format will offer an enhanced learning experience, allowing children to interact with content by dragging and dropping stickers, making the learning process both fun and informative.

We are looking for collaborations to promote and distribute the book!

A limited number of books can be provided free of charge by the BlueMissionMed project.
Specifically, we look for stakeholders interested in using the book:

  • In educational activities in primary schools;
  • As part of toolkits designed for teachers (including train-the-teacher activities);
  • In educational activities in informal settings, such as laboratories, hands-on labs and gamified experiences in museums, science festivals, etc.
  • In reading and inquired-based learning sessions in libraries or at book fairs.

But we also look for:

  • More linguisting versions to expand our impact across al EU basins and beyond!
  • Financial support for printing additional copies:
    • The sponsor’s logo will be included in the printed books supported by their contribution;
    • The sponsor can use and distribute the additional reprinted copies within the context of their activities;
    • A percentage of copies with the sponsor’s logo can be distributed through the channels of BlueMissionMed partners.
