BlueMissionMed fostered collaborations among sister projects in the Med Lighthouse
On November 13, 2024, BlueMissionMed organized the “Mission Ocean and Waters Med Lighthouse Workshop: Fostering Collaborations Among Sister Projects”, which successfully brought together over 70 active participants both from BlueMissionMed and from the Innovation Actions in the Mediterranean Basin, namely iMERMAID, REMEDIES, RHE-MEDiation and SeaClear2.0. The workshop stimulated a dynamic and insightful debate, emphasizing collaboration to support sustainable solutions for the area.
The event’s main objectives were to align activities across various projects, maximize collaboration and impacts in the Mediterranean, and facilitate knowledge-sharing among participants. By sharing experiences and lessons learned in involving third parties and local stakeholders in regional solutions, while providing a platform for mapping the expertise and services offered by different projects across Mediterranean countries.
The workshop began with an introduction to BlueMissionMed, outlining the project’s future steps and opportunities of involvement for sister initiatives. An interactive session on MIRO followed, where participants shared their experiences and insights. This collaborative exercise also included mapping each project’s expertise, services, and activities, such as pilots and demo sites of innovative transformative solutions, capacity building offer, stakeholder engagement activities, and policy workshops, along a six-month timeline. The MIRO exercise facilitated planning of a joint roadmap for enhanced collaboration, aimed at creating more significant, long-term impacts in the Mediterranean.
This successful workshop marked a key step forward in uniting efforts to support the EU Mission “Restore Our Ocean and Waters” in the Mediterranean, strengthening partnerships, and building a shared path toward sustainable ocean and water solutions.
