BlueMissionMed at Genova Blue District: Strengthening Awareness and Collaboration Across European Ocean and Climate Projects
On June 5th, 2025, BlueMissionMed took part in the event “What are European Projects Doing for the Climate and the Sea?” hosted by Genova Blue District. Represented by Selenia Marinelli and Valentina Vavassori from FVA New Media Research, the project joined a vibrant line-up of European initiatives working at the intersection of environmental sustainability and the protection and restoration of oceans and waters.
The event offered a valuable opportunity to present BlueMissionMed’s approach and results, especially in the area of citizen involvement. These include the children’s book Our Blue Treasure, the BlueMissionMed large-scale event toolkit, and interactive labs and games designed to engage society in ocean and climate action.
One of the sessions in which the project was featured was moderated by Marco Rolandi from Regione Liguria and Silvia Campailla from the Municipality of Genoa—an indication of the high-level institutional engagement and relevance of the event within regional and local governance frameworks.
More than just a showcase, the event served as a dynamic platform for networking and knowledge exchange. BlueMissionMed connected with a diverse group of projects from various EU programmes such as Horizon Europe, Interreg, and LIFE. The gathering laid the groundwork for potential future collaborations and mutual support in advancing Mission Ocean objectives —an essential component for accelerating the transition to a healthy, climate-resilient ocean and waters.
