Launch of the French BlueMissionMed HUB
As part of the BlueMissionMed project under Horizon Europe’s Ocean Mission 2030, IFREMER, with the support of Pôle mer Méditerranée, has the pleasure to bring together, all scientific, industrial, public and civil society French actors involved in the fight against marine pollution (chemical and plastic) in the Mediterranean at the launch of the French Hub on November 30rd 2023 at the Ifremer Mediterranean Centre in La Seyne sur Mer.
This first workshop aims at launching a dynamic of mobilization of French actors to build synergies in reducing pollution of the Mediterranean hydrosphere in a land-sea continuum perspective. Concretely, this involves showcasing exemplary initiatives, actions and solutions at local and national level in the fight against pollution in the Mediterranean, integrating the objective of promoting concrete and replicable solutions at the basin scale level.
A series of presentations on key themes (societal commitment, industrial solutions and financing) as well as a networking session will take place allowing stakeholders to present their solutions and/or projects. A round table with public authorities will provide strategic insights into governance aspects. In total, around ten Mission projects will be presented by the participants. A participatory tool will be used to facilitate stakeholders mobilisation and make exchanges more dynamic.
Over the next three years, a series of meetings and actions will be proposed with the objectives of:
- Giving visibility to existing initiatives carried out by stakeholders
- Co-building new solutions by involving all stakeholders
- Identifying funding
- Networking this group with other European countries associated and developing a similar approach (Italy, Spain, Greece, Malta, Tunisia and Turkey)

IFREMER et le Pôle Mer Méditerranée, dans le cadre du projet BlueMissionMed relevant de la Mission Océan 2030 d’Horizon Europe, rassemblent les acteurs institutionnels, industriels, scientifiques et associatifs parties prenantes de la lutte contre les pollutions marines (chimiques et plastiques) en Méditerranée en particulier sur le continuum Terre-Mer de l’axe Rhône Saône.
Une série de rencontres et d’actions seront proposées sur les trois prochaines années avec pour objectifs de :
- Donner de la visibilité aux initiatives existantes portés par des acteurs
- Co construire des nouvelles solutions en associant l’ensemble des parties prenantes
- Identifier des financements
- Mettre en réseau ce groupe avec les autres pays européens associées et développant une démarche similaire (Italie, Espagne, Grèce, Malte, Tunisie et Turquie)
Ces ateliers visent à engager, mobiliser et faciliter l’engagement des acteurs méditerranéens – à commencer par les acteurs industriels qui ont approuvé la Charte de Mission – pour mettre en synergie les actions de la Mission dans la réduction de la pollution de l’hydrosphère méditerranéenne. Le Hub français de BlueMissionMed présentera des actions citoyennes nationales qui activent des solutions conjointes avec les industries au niveau local.
