BlueMissionMed will participate in the LIFE4MEDECA Final Conference!

The final conference of the LIFE4MEDECA project, titled “Green Transition from the Med to Oceans and Seas”  will take place next 18 October at the Museum of Natural History of the Mediterranean in Livorno, at the end of 3 years of work.

BlueMissionMed will participate in the event, which is developed in 3 thematic panels, with the screening of 3 videos and a round table and will end with the signing of a charter relating to the European Union Mission “Restore our ocean and waters 2030”.
Agenda available here.

The Mediterranean Countries and the European Union agreed, on December 10, 2021 at the Barcelona Convention’s COP 22, on the designation of the whole Mediterranean as a Sulphur oxides Emission Control Area (SECA) and to assess the feasibility of extending the control also to the nitrogen oxides, NOx (NECA).

The creation of ECAs will have a positive environmental and socio-economic impact in the area while triggering its Green Transition through the desired Restoration of the Mediterranean, protecting its resources and biodiversity, as well as facilitating the achievement of EU strategic objectives and its Missions.

Starting from the results of the project, in Livorno representatives of institutions, academics, port managers, researchers, representatives of companies and associations, will discuss the solutions that the maritime and port community can offer to the challenges posed by the Green Transition from the Mediterranean, to other Seas and the Oceans. During the event, the ECA4MED Knowledge Centre will be presented, contributing to the European Union Mission “Restore our ocean and waters 2030”.
